MINERAL SITE SUCCESS

This page is to help you find seasonal success with our minerals and to teach you about the different life cycles of a deer. In any deer habitat or management area its important to have a healthy balance of food. Food plots and mineral locations both play an equally important roll in not only deer management but heard health as well. There are many things to take into consideration, no one shoe fits all in the attractant market. Soil conditions, native wildlife, additional food sources, climate, and so many more variables go into effect when it comes to choosing attractants. This page will assist you in picking which minerals are best for you at what time of the year. We will be adding a few more products as time goes on, stay tuned!

PICKING A MINERAL SITE LOCATION

There are many things to take into consideration when setting up your mineral site. We recommend you choose an area that is well concealed and fairly close to a trail where deer frequently travel. It is also recommended you choose an area near a water source when you can but its not necessary. Do not put minerals directly on the trail as you risk spooking the older wiser deer that dislike change. The more concealed the mineral site is the more comfortable the deer will be visiting the site which in turn means they may spend more time at these locations allowing them to consume more minerals. Minerals work best when used at the proper times. Spring through early fall is the best time to use minerals because this is when they will need elevated levels of minerals to bounce back from a harsh winter when food is scarce. This is also the period of time when they will be growing antlers and raising fawns so the mineral site will provide them with additional minerals to aid with these processes. Deer typically do not use mineral sites as heavily during the fall months because the fawns are already grown and the antlers are already produced. At this point in the season a deer’s primary focus is on storing fat to get it through the winter and the bucks are primarily focused on breeding.

USING OUR MINERALS

Our minerals may be directly applied to the ground without any site preparation but for best results we recommend you clear a three foot area clear of vegetation and debris.

Then simply apply the mineral to the cleared area and you are ready to go!!! We recommend that you reapply again in 30 days after the initial application to ensure the mineral leaches into the soil properly and keeps them coming back for more. After the second application we recommend you wait 60 days between applications. Each bag comes with enough attractant to do two mineral spots.
